Troubleshooting Password Managers with Alinsco's New Login Process

At Alinsco Insurance, we are committed to providing our agents with a seamless and secure online experience. As part of this commitment, we are updating our login process for the Agent Portal. This change aims to enhance security and improve the overall user experience. In this blog post, we’ll address how these changes might affect your use of password managers and provide solutions to ensure a smooth login experience.


The New Login Process

Starting from September 10th, agents will begin the login process at agents.empowerins.com. Upon clicking the "Login" button, you will be redirected to auth.alinscoinsurance.com, where you will enter your username and password to access your account. It’s crucial to start at agents.empowerins.com. Going directly to auth.alinscoinsurance.com will not allow you to log in correctly.


Potential Issue with Password Managers

We understand that many agents use password managers to store and autofill their usernames and passwords. These tools are invaluable for maintaining secure and complex credentials. However, with this update, there might be a challenge: Password managers usually associate usernames and passwords with specific websites. Since our new login process involves two different web addresses, the details saved for agents.empowerins.com may not automatically fill in at auth.alinscoinsurance.com.


Solution: Equivalent Domains Feature

Some password managers offer a feature called "Equivalent Domains," which allows you to link different websites to the same set of login details. This feature ensures a smooth login experience even when navigating between different sites.

What You Need to Do

To ensure uninterrupted access to the Alinsco Agent Portal, please configure your password manager to recognize agents.empowerins.com and auth.alinscoinsurance.com as equivalent domains. This setup will allow your username and password to autofill correctly regardless of the starting point.
